Injectable Solution

COMPOSITION:

Each ml contains Vitamin K1 (phytomenadione) 12.5 mg Excipients q.s. 1.0 ml

INDICATIONS:

In dogs and cats, cattle and horses for the treatment of hemorrhages caused by anticoagulant rodenticides and by vitamin K deficiency. To counteract hypoprothrombinemia induced by the ingestion of coumarin-based compounds, a common ingredient in commercial rodenticides.

DESCRIPTION:

ATTENTION
Whenever possible, Kavitex f-1 should be administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously. When intravenous administration is absolutely necessary, it should be administered very slowly, at the rate indicated above. Kavitex f-1 may be diluted in 0.9% Sodium Chloride Solution or 5% Dextrose Solution. Other diluents should not be used. When administration of the diluted product is indicated, parenteral administration should begin immediately after mixing, and any unused portions of the prepared diluent should be discarded. Serial prothrombin time (PT) tests should be performed to guide initial treatment and subsequent administration of Kavitex f-1. The dosage and duration of treatment should then be adjusted at the veterinarian's discretion.

DOSAGE:

In Dogs and Cats 
Acute hypoprothrombinemia (with hemorrhage). Intravenous injection of 0.25 to 2.5 mg/kg, at an average flow rate not exceeding 5 mg of active ingredient per minute.
Non-acute hypoprothrombinemia. Intramuscular or subcutaneous injection of 0.25 to 2.5 mg/kg.

In Cattle and Horses
Acute hypoprothrombinemia (with hemorrhage). Intravenous injection of 0.5 to 2.5 mg/kg of body weight, at an average flow rate not exceeding 10 mg of active ingredient per minute in adult animals and 5 mg of active ingredient per minute in newborns or very young animals.
Non-acute hypoprothrombinemia. Intramuscular or subcutaneous injection of 0.5 to 2.5 mg/kg of body weight.
